Why You Should Do The CrossFit Open (Yes, You 👀)

Every year this comes around and every year I hear the same things:

“I’m not fit enough.”
“I can’t do half the movements.”
“I’ll just wait until I’m better.”

Let me say this clearly…

The Open is not for the elite.
It’s for the person reading this right now.

The CrossFit Open is the biggest participatory fitness event in the world. Thousands of everyday people, parents, business owners, shift workers, grandparents, first-timers, throw their hat in the ring and test themselves.

And that’s exactly what it is.

A test.
Not a judgement.

Let’s break down why you should get involved 👇

If It’s Your First Ever Open

1️⃣ You’ll Surprise Yourself

Every single year, someone says,
“I didn’t think I could do that.”

You’ll attempt movements you’ve been avoiding.
You’ll push harder than you do in a normal class.
You’ll find another gear.

And once you’ve found it… you can’t un-find it.

2️⃣ There’s Always a Scaled Option

You do not need muscle-ups.
You do not need a 100kg snatch.
You do not need to be “competition ready”.

There is scaled. There is foundations. There is a version for you.

The Open meets you where you are. It doesn’t ask you to be someone else.

3️⃣ You’ll Feel Part of Something Bigger

On a normal Friday night, you train.

During the Open, the whole gym is buzzing.
Music up. People judging each other. High fives everywhere.

It becomes an event, not just a workout.

And honestly? Those Friday nights are some of the best sessions of the year.

🔥 If You’ve Done a Few Already

You might be thinking,
“I’ve done it before, I know what it’s about.”

Exactly. And that’s why it matters even more.

1️⃣ It’s Your Annual Progress Report

We talk about measurable results all the time.

The Open gives you:

• Repeat benchmarks
• A worldwide leaderboard
• A clear comparison to previous years

Did your engine improve?
Are your gymnastics better?
Are you mentally tougher?

It’s objective feedback.

2️⃣ It Forces Intent

In a normal class, it’s easy to cruise.

In the Open?
You move with purpose.
You strategise.
You warm up properly.
You care about transitions.

That intensity carries over into the rest of your training for the year.

3️⃣ It Sharpens the Mind

The Open is uncomfortable.
And that’s the point.
You’ll have that voice in your head saying slow down.
You’ll learn how to answer it.

That skill transfers to life, business, parenting, everything.

Controlled discomfort builds resilient humans.

🤝 What The Open Really Builds

It builds connection.

You judge someone else.
They judge you.
The person who finishes last often gets the biggest cheer.

That’s what this is about.

Shared effort. Shared suffering. Shared growth.

So… Should You Sign Up?

If you train here, the answer is yes.

Whether it’s your first Open or your fifth, there is something in it for you.

Growth doesn’t happen by accident.
It happens when you step slightly outside your comfort zone.

And this is a very controlled, very supportive way to do exactly that.
